Does the mainstream media obsess over the sexual orientation of celebrities a little too much these days?

There have been a few news articles circling around the web suggesting that the actor and model Colton Haynes may be gay. Or as they put it “have a gay past”. And it really seems to me that they are acting way too obsessive over this. Not just with Haynes, but with other male celebrities too.

Now he has eventually confirmed this by stating that he is in fact gay. I’m thrilled that Haynes can be so honest with himself. But is the media obsessing over sexual orientation a little too much at is point?
