How to survive hayfever?

Asked by tan253 (2958points) August 17th, 2016

I’m miserable! I have, what I believe to be hayfever. Each Spring time, (it’s almost spring in New Zealand) – I wake up with one very blocked nose, then I sneeze, my eyes are itchy, my nose wont stop running and I’m coughing up gunk. To be fair, I have just gotten over a rather awful bronchial cold. To make it worse though I’m allergic to dust as well. How do I survive??? How do I build up my immune system so it doesn’t over react to pollen and dust. I’m interested in taking hayfever medication or medicating the symptoms, I want to get RID of the response my immune system has to dust and allergies. How to make my immune system calm down and not over react. Any ideas? Dr’s just give me drugs, I’m sure there is food or something that can help me. Being allergic to dust sucks balls! Plus, I’m not a tidy person. Thanks Flutherists
