Have you ever looked at your pet thinking you want to say something to it, changing your mind and remaining silent, and having your pet look at you like it knew what you were going to say?

I was lounging with my German Shepherd once and he started licking the back of my hand. Finding a scaly growth on one knuckle, he took special interest in it, holding my hand steady with his paws and continuing his licking. Then he started biting at it, carefully, with his incisors, before licking more. I glanced over at him, thinking that he’d better be careful! And without missing a lick, he rolled his eyes at me as if to say, “I’m being careful, Master!”
