How do I talk about something that leaves me with questions, and then those questions are answered later on accidentally?

The most recent example is the word providence… I had no idea what it meant, so I just shrugged it off. But later on, I found out that it meant God or nature as a spiritual power. I did this without meaning to. This has happened way too many times than I can count.
