Seventh Day Adventists: Are they societally to the right or left of the spectrum?

Asked by Yellowdog (12216points) July 22nd, 2017

They seem to be very multicultural and in all parts of the city where I live, and have some very progressive thinkers in their past, involving health and nutrition, mental health, etc. I suppose some of their vegetarian emphasis might be considered pseudo-science, however. The ones I know seem to be very politically conservative and biblically strict almost to the point of fundamentalism and separatism, though they welcome everyone they seem to stay to themselves, their methods and ways as a group. The entire concept of Sabbaticalism seems to imply keeping the Hebrew Sabbath, conserving God’s creation and resources.

If you belong to the Seventh Day Adventists or are familiar with them, how would you describe the societal mindset in terms of left/right, liberal/conservative

Its okay to answer if you don’t like this group, also—or have had negative experiences, as is often the way when dealing with separatist groups. Some have told me that they are very legalistic and have very clear rules.
