Trump bans transgender people from the military: was this the right move?

Trump tweeted this morning that the after consulting with military officials, there will be a ban on transgender people from joining the military. The reasons cited were that the military “cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.”

Do you think this the right decision?

How much are the costs in actuality? Is it really that much of a burden.

I’ve heard from some in the military that trans people are often non-deployable, which is a burden on the military and seems to defeat their purpose of being there. Anyone else with military experience care to chime in on this?
