Eek, a mouse! Or, how to get rid of one?

I live at the eight floor.
Yet I managed to get myself a mouse, involuntarily.
So I bought a box with a bag of poison in it; didn’t work.
Mouse didn’t touch the box, nor the bag.
Today I bought some good old fashioned mouse traps, plus two new fashioned ones.
Here’s my question to you: what food do I put on them?
Go old school and put a block of cheese?
Or did I once hear that mice don’t fancy that?
What else?
And, if it fails all together, what should be my next move?
Any experiences catching mice?
