Should I wait till after my vacation plans to get an IUD?

I’ve decided to get a hormonal IUD. I’ve never had one before, so I don’t know if I’ll have any side effects.

I kind of want to get it out of the way ASAP, but I also have quite a lot going on in upcoming months. September is mostly quiet, but I have pleasure trip planned for late October and a business trip in November. In December I imagine I’ll be traveling to see family at Christmastime. So if I wait it probably won’t happen till January.

Should I try to get the IUD in September? Or should I wait till after my trips in case I end up having to deal with nasty side-effects? I don’t want to ruin my trips.

In the meantime I’m on birth control pills, so I’m not worrying I’ll get pregnant if I wait, I just kind of want the ordeal out of the way.
