Have you ever had to deal with parents that won't take their misbehaving child out of the theater?

I went to a special screening of The Avengers tonight, and a 3 year old kept talking loudly and walking around the aisle, obviously uninterested in the movie and being completely distracting. After 30 minutes passed I said politely “Can you please take your child out of the theater until she’s ready to calm down?” They completely ignored me, so I said “Ok, I’m getting the manager.” That must have been the magic word because they left immediately with the husband yelling at me “Get laid motherf*****.”

Not quite sure why they’re surprised that someone is irritated by their disregard for other moviegoers. Have you ever had to deal with this? And do you think I was justified for speaking up? If this was a kid’s film suited for a toddler, I definitely wouldn’t have said anything.
