Is it true that eclipse glasses are good for only 3 years?

Yes, I know that the great eclipse is over. But now, what to do with those glasses? Someone told me that they’re good for only 3 years, and if I think no one will use them in the next 3 years, I should throw them out.
Is this true for both the kind with the plastic frames and those with the cardboard frames?
