How long will poison ivy keep erupting?

What I first thought was the fleas again turns out to be poison ivy. My initial exposure was probably last Wednesday. I have worn the shorts I was wearing then again so it seems some oil might have been on them. I’m treating it topically but new sites are still emerging. Any knowledge on how long this should last?
