Did the Romans nail Jesus' feet?

Asked by josie (30934points) August 12th, 2018

The Romans did not invent crucifixion. But they may have developed it to a fine art of torture. They just nailed or tied the arms and let the victims hang, naked without a modesty loin cloth as Jesus is depicted in classical images, and only high enough off the ground that the feet would not touch the ground, and so that passers-by could look the victim in the face and say or do what they thought was appropriate for the moment. They would nail the victims feet in special cases, in order to prolong the suffering. The victim would use the “purchase point” of the feet to take the weight off of their arms and shoulders for as long as they could muster the the strength.
Which treatment did Jesus get.
