What information should I share about our previous landlord when applying for a new rental (please read details)

My husband and I have 2 weeks to find a new home/apartment. We are in good standing with our current landlord of 3 years. Our previous landlord was an ass. We lived in his home for 5 years. Before this we owned a home for 16 years.

After living in his home for 3 years he told us he had some veterinary interns (he’s a farmer) he needed to house. He told us if we wanted to stay in his home he would need to raise our rent to cover the costs of housing his interns. He wanted his interns to live in the home we were living in.

We stayed. Our rent jumped from $450 to $676. The next 2 years he gave us hell. He made us mow part of the property we didn’t have to mow before he had the new interns. He wanted us to paint the exterior trim and do other projects around the home. My husband became very ill, missed several weeks without pay which made us fall behind on payments. Our landlord used this opportunity to evict us. He called us liars when we told him what happened to my husband. It was clear he was doing anything and everything to get rid of us.

Do we mention the eviction on the rental applications we are filling out? How should we handle this? As I said, our current landlord adores us. We have no problems with him.

Help! We finally found a home that will accept all of our pets but I’m worried about our previous asshole landlord.
