Can I safely give my romaine lettuce to the wildlife around my home?

I have two heads of romaine that I won’t be eating. I hate to waste food. Can I put the lettuce out for the deer, rabbits, skunks, etc., without the danger of them getting sick?

I know different animals have different gut flora, but I don’t know if this particular strain of e. coli can make wildlife sick.
