How do the Native American populations in Canada fare, compared to the indigenous people of what is now the United States?

This has been brought up twice today. The first time was there was a Facebook post that suggested the way Canada handled the issues was vastly superior to the way the early European Americans did. It was supposedly more fair and humane.

However, later on, in a completely different forum, someone else mentioned the Native Americans in Canada, and suggested they have the same kind of problems many have here: substandard housing, problem with clean drinking water, etc.

I always thought idea of eminent domain in the US was a big problem when it came to being fair to the Native Americans, but apparently Canada has it’s version of eminent domain.

Can you help me untangle this?
