What is a positve take from my obession with ability scores in Dunegons and Dragons?

I had to stop take a break for three years from playing Baldur’s Gate two, because I was obsessed with rolling ability scores and leveling up. My mind set was tarnishing the game for me and I had to stop.

I still love the music in the character select screen.

I’m not looking for psychological help or advice
(I will ask my psychologist today instead).

Just wondering where my obsession about game statistics would be a benefit? Also have you encountered taking a game too seriously?
