When shopping online has this ever happened to you and how did you resolve it?

In November 2019 I ordered a gift to be shipped to my longtime friend in France and all worked out well, or so I thought it did?
After receiving a confirmation of payment,a delivery date and a notice that it was shipped , I sent an email to the friend that a gift was being delivered December 4 2019.
After payment went through,I received a note from the seller that the product was out of stock and that in about ten days I will be refunded?
I notified the website which was Amazon.fr of not only the disappointment but the unfairness of having to wait and tie up my money while they slowly correct it,plus get the interest on my money as it sat in the sellers account!
Nevertheless only after I sent a comment online about the unfair practice of the late refund did I finally get my refund on my credit card Very quickly!
This seller is on many websites offering the same product knowing full well that it is out of stock! I noted that and left a comment about scams. Wow one really has to be vigilant when online shopping, one never knows whom to trust.
