How is 2020 shaping up for you?

My dad took pictures like crazy all through the 60s, 70s and 80s. They were in a slide projector. We didn’t have many hard copy prints. Just once a year or so we’d have Family Picture Night. Mom would pop up a big old thing of popcorn, add an entire stick of butter and we’d go through the old familiar ones and see the new ones from that year.
My folks split in 1980,and somehow my sister wound up with all the slides.
I have been asking her for copies since the 80s.
She flat ignored me. For years and years she ignored me.
The other day I got a flash drive in the mail with her return address. No note saying what it was. I stared at it for a while. wondering if it was a new magic flash drive, then just tossed it in with my other flash drives.
About 10 minutes went by and suddenly I yelled ”HOLY SHIT!!!” And jumped for the drive, heart pounding. I plugged it in….and there they were. I started crying. My entire childhood laid out in front of me. Spent several hours copying them to a folder on my computer, so that Carbonite would back them up for me. 411 pictures.

A year ago I got a negative scanner, planning to scan all the 35mm negatives I’d taken from 1980 to 2003. I started that project yesterday. I’m only half way through 1985 and I’ve scanned over 100 negatives! Well, 1985 was a very busy year. Had my middle daughter, and two weeks later my sister got married.
I’m emailing pictures out like crazy to who ever is in the pics.

So my 2020 is starting out with a looooong long walk down memory lane.
