When you have to overcome a big time difference, what's your method?

Say you have to make a big time change when traveling, or there’s some special reason to have to get up or stay up deep into your normal sleep time.

You have to be alert and sharp when you’re usually dead to the world, or you have to shut down when you’re normally wide awake.

How do you accomplish the shift? What works for you?
