If you could afford any type of living situation, what would you choose for yourself and your needs?

I met a couple a few years ago, at a resort, who told me they were building houses on their property for their adult children (and the grandchildren), so they could all have their privacy yet would be close in proximity. To me, if everyone gets along, that sounds ideal.

When I’ve driven around with a friend whose hobby is real estate, I’ve thought that if I had a big house where everyone had their own space, it might be nice to have a few roommates. An option would be the big compound like the couple was building, where everyone has their own house on one large piece of land. In both situations, everyone could have their privacy if they wanted, or eat together if they wanted.

What, to you, would be an ideal living situation, assuming money were not an obstacle?
