Isn’t a delicious and opulent soap opera? Those snooty women stitched up in all that whalebone, bustles and brocade. Some of those dresses must weigh 40 pounds. No wonder they are so catty and unpleasant. But you have to glory in the sheer sumptuous excess of the day and the wonderful job the production did in bringing it to life
