What mistakes should Germany avoid as it "re-arms"?

It looks like Germany intends to significantly raise military spending (https://www.reuters.com/business/aerospace-defense/germany-hike-defense-spending-scholz-says-further-policy-shift-2022-02-27/).
I think this is a good idea, although I’m skeptical about how far it will go. My question for y’all is this:
What mistakes should Germany try to avoid as it raises military spending?
(besides the whole conquering-all-of-Europe thing)
