When you're going away for more than a week or two, how do you manage paying the household bills?

Do you do everything online from wherever you are, or pay ahead, or something else?

Believe it or not, I haven’t had to answer this question before. Either my husband or I stayed home in the other’s absence or we were both (all) away together for shorter periods of time.

Now I’m thinking about a somewhat longer trip, and he’s gone. I’m not sure of the best way to handle bills that come after I leave and are due before I return. What’s the best way to take care of them without signing up for a bunch of stuff I don’t want, like automatic bill paying?
