Has anyone treated or been treated for thyroid antibodies?

Asked by emilyrose (2272points) September 18th, 2008

I have long suspected that I had some thyroid issues based on family history and my symptoms that no doctor has been able to figure out. I recently tested positive for thyroid antibodies. My doctor (who is part of a practice that does like to bring in holistic/alternative medicine) said that it is controversial but that she is willing to talk through the options with me. I’d like to at least try to see if it makes a difference in the symptoms I am experiencing. Has anyone else treated a patient for this or been treated for it themselves? If I go for it, I would like to do as much alternative treatment as possible (i.e no synthetic hormones if I don’t have to) Just curious to hear any real life experiences.
