Which colors would complement an ugly, dark brown, shag carpet?

I wanted to go with an olive green but that started looking too 1970’s for my taste. I’d rather not go with neutrals because that’s boring. I’m not really a fan a basic spring pastels either.
What colors are going to look good with such horrid carpet?
