Okay, this will sound silly but I'm gonna ask anyway... why don't we still have pirates?

If we still have royalty around the world, Emperors (particularly Japan), and so-on, sooo…. why aren’t pirates still around? Yeah, I mean, I know that pirates were killed off earlier in history but that doesn’t mean pirates can’t make a come back (lol if possible) in today’s day in age. So why? Again, I know this is probably a stupid question but I wanted to know your opinions. Thx! =)
