If you have a holiday tree up, do you take it down on a specific date, just whenever, or at all?

When I was growing up, my mom and dad couldn’t agree on what was Twelfth Night, (Mom said Jan 6, Dad said Jan 12) so we were squiffy about all that. Mostly since then I’ve been doing it whenever, but for the last few years I’ve left the little table-top tree up year round (my living room is gloomy) and changed out the lights and decorations.
