Can a cat be shipped overnight via FedEx domestically in the US?

I have shipped other small animals (Fish, Corals, Etc) via FedEx overnight with no ill effects. Google yielded mixed results. What do you think? Can it be done? Is it cruel? If you think its cruel, how is it any different than it traveling on an airline or other courier service?
