What do you know about Ken Salazar - Obama's choice for Secretary of the Interior?

As an environmentalist, I am very concerned at the rape of the parks and the public lands conducted by the current administration. I am looking for Obama’s adminstration to rectify as much of the damage as they can. I read that Salazar has close ties to the mining and ranching industries, but I find it hard to believe that he wouldn’t pick someone strong on the environment. Anybody have any info?
