Is shaving with a straight razor really worth the price and effort?

I am considering switching to a straight razor, but I am worried that it might not be worth the price and effort of sharpening. It seems like it might save money in the long run on blades. Does anyone have experience with this, or can anyone recommend a good set up. Thanks.
