How could I park in NYC on New Years Eve?

I’m 8 hours from the city, and I want to get there in the morning of Dec. 31. Can you park in the city? Can you even drive in the city? I don’t really want to have to get a hotel, and I highly doubt any are available. What should I do about driving up there that day, or maybe the day before?
