Should he donate to Locks of Love?

My oldest son has relatively long hair, it comes down to his shoulders and he doesn’t want to get it cut. He has mentioned that he would like to keep growing it until it is long enough to donate to Locks of Love. I really like that he wants to do that, but in order to donate he has to have ten inches of hair – that is really long hair on a ten year-old boy. Would you let/encourage your son to do it?
