Have you ever taken a craigslist ride? How did it go?

I am heading to my company’s HQ for work next week. I don’t own a car and don’t want to rent one because I really dislike driving. I was thinking of taking the train, but I also posted on CL that I needed a ride. I have heard back from one person who sounds crazy and another that I am just not sure about. Have you done this before? How did you decide if the person was legit?
