What do you do when someone tells you a funny story that you don't think is funny?

Someone you know tells you something hilarious that happened [in a movie, TV show, or during that person’s day; nothing offensive to you or anything—just not so funny], and you just don’t find it as hilarious as they do. They’re cracking up as they tell it, and you say to your mind “it’s not that funny.”
Do you laugh too? As much as they are? Do you tell them you don’t think it’s that funny? Do you giggle and go back to what you were doing? Do you say “oh that’s hilarious,” but not laugh?
