Have we come to a dead end with the evolution of the men's common "neck tie"?

Over the past 400 years the tie has changed from this thing to scarves to bowties, but it seems there have been no major changes in the past 100 years.
For my day job I have to wear a tie everyday and have grown to despise this standard of men’s fashion, but at least I get to choose my own and sometimes I rock the piano key neck tie (which I think was a highlight in the evolution of the tie)
