How long should repainting an apartment take? Tips for good ways to do it?

Moving, so we've got to get it all white. It's a studio apartment - two medium rooms, small bathroom, hallway, closets. We painted some bold colors and dark colors (turquoise, yellow, brown, red, etc), so we're guessing it'll be more than one coat. But how many? How long will they take to dry? Should we use primer? Where's a cheap spot in SF to buy paint? Anything we should NOT do?
