I received a flirt from a guy on Facebook. Is he gay or just wants to be friends with me?

There’s this application Meet New People, but the only thing you can choose is the flirt button and there are several flirts, from “Hi, I’m interested” to “You’re way to cute to poke”. I received the “Hi, I’m interested” from him. Now I’m not pretty sure what the term flirt actually means. And btw, I have nothing against homosexuals.
