Recession-friendly, sophisticated bachelorette party ideas?

Asked by figbash (7483points) July 19th, 2009

I’ve looked at all the other bachelorette party idea questions and still not quite sure what to do.

The bride-to-be is over 35, more on the sophisticated end, and the standard bachelorette party ideas don’t work for this person.

There’s no way sitting around at someone’s house and playing the normal kinda corny party games would be fun for her, and it would just make things awkward for everyone else. Plus, fun, smutty things like pole dancing classes wouldn’t go over too well with her either. Plus, there’s the price factor. Looking into just dinner and drinks can wind up being well over 50 bucks a head, which is hard to ask for given that many people are low on funds AND this is a destination wedding. Does anyone have any low-key, classy and inexpensive ideas that would be bachelorette-worthy and appropriate without breaking the bank? I’d love any ideas or real-life experiences you’ve had.

Thanks!
