How do I restore an iPod with a 1416 error?

I replaced the logic board, and now, I can’t restore it. I have it formatted for my mac (Leopard). I’ve tried using Disk Utility to wipe the HD and start from scratch but to no avail. I updated iTunes to the current version also. Help!
