Is it more offensive to be shitty or slutty? (Please see details.)

I was listening to a song on the radio today and I noticed that the word slut was allowed but shit was censored.

I find the word slut more offensive. Is it just me that thinks this way?

Why are some offensive words allowed but others are not?
