When to buy plane tickets to Japan?

So I’m planning a trip to Japan (Tokyo) for about 10 days at the end of December (flying from Los Angeles). I’ve been looking at ticket prices for weeks now, and not only have some prices gone down, new flights with even cheaper prices have popped up. So I’m wondering, will prices keep dropping (and if so, until when), or should I just get the cheapest ticket I can right now?
