Why Am I Dreaming About My Old Friend Almost Every Night?

My best friend and I got into a fight probably about 7–8 months ago and we aren’t friends anymore at all. I miss being her friend, but it dosen’t really bother me and I don’t think about it often at all. Every single night she always is in my dreams. Mostly she wijust happen to be wherever I am in my dream, wheither it be on the street, at a store, usually in public places, etc. Usually we will smile say hi, small talk for a bit and be on our way. Other dreams we apologize, become friends again, and hang out. Whenever we become friends again I’m always in the country with her or in a forest. Whenever we casually say hello its always somewhere busy, and public. I’m not sure what the underlying reason is as to why she is in my dreams every single night, but if someone knows a bit about dreams can you please tell me what is going on in my brain?
