How do I verify information told to me?

I am currently dating a man who claims that he is active duty in the U.S. Army Special Forces. I need to know how to go about verifying what he’s told me is the truth. I’ve run a background check & his name came back clean (meaning no wants or warrants).
Can someone please help me verify if this man is a legitimate member of the U.S. Army SF?
