What is an appropriate time to have a housewarming party?

My fiance and I just bought our first home and are expecting to officially be moved in by next week. We want to have a housewarming party but need to do some renovations first. I just want to make sure we don’t wait too long before sending invitations out. How long is too long? If you received an invite from someone who’d been living in their house for 2 months already would you still attend?
