Should I be concerned that my Nokia 2600 is getting really hot?

The battery pack seems to be running really hot, often when the charger is plugged in but sometimes at random times. The battery model had a recall but my serial number didn’t check out.
Is there something I should be doing (like running screaming to the nearest bunker)?
