What difference is the influx of serious money going to make to Fluther?

I hear that 600k has been invested in this site recently. Why is that?
Is it to sustain the site? Or has some opportunity for profiteering been identified? If the latter, how do you feel about contributing (For free) to a site that is using your abilities to further line some well-off pockets? Is commercialism (if that is the case) going to ruin what is happening here?
