Who is/are your favorite lyricist(s)? What are some examples of why you find them brilliant?

I’m one of those people who finds the lyrics of a song of equal importance to the music they are sung to. I’m looking for lyricists that are poignant, brilliant, crafty, clever, sharp, poetic, etc., etc. Who are your favorites, and why? I would love to see your favorite specific quotations of theirs as well.
