Trying to remember name of a children's book set in Japan?

I read a book about a young girl in Japan, who either is from or takes a trip to Kyoto to visit family. This was a book in English, which I read in the mid-1980s, and was probably the basis for my obsession with ramen, as the main character ate it all the time. I can’t remember the name, or any other plot details, other than it concerned travel in Japan. Definitely aimed at elementary children/young adult at most. I remember loving this book, help!
