Which car insurance is best for a first time driver?

I’m worried that my rates will be crazy expensive. I’m trying to do some research on my own, but there’s so much fine print and I’m having trouble finding meaningful information. If it helps, I’m not a teen driver, so I’m starting a new policy with only me on it. I own the car, which is about 15 years and worth about $500— $1000. I don’t have great credit, and I’d rather pay monthly than up front. I want liability only. Getting some advice would really help, because from my research they allll look the same.
