Is it possible to find out if you are pregnant through a blood test within the first few days of possibly conceiving?

My friend had sex with another one of my friends i think it was sat night. He called me saying she took a blood test the day after and it confirmed her being pregnant. For some reason i am doubting this whole thing but correct me if i am wrong.. please.
